The
Bear Valley Parents Group (BVPG), a grassroots non-profit 501c3 corporation dedicated to providing programs and services to the children and families of Bear Valley since 2005.
The BVPG, Inc is a 6 member board made up of full time residents of the the Bear Valley community, who meet regularly to discuss our programs. Meetings are open to the public.
Through the Soap Box Derby, BVPG will attempt to build an exciting fundraising activity for BVPG and an annually anticipated, fun family participatory event. Our first Soap Box Derby proved to be that and more and brought in approximately $23,000.
The BVPG also raised $26,125 to assist Alpine County with funds for the new playground that was installed in the autumn of 2008 behind the Perry Walther Community Center.
The BVPG is also responsible for the
Bear Valley Summer Day Camp. This program is offered to Bear Valley's children between the ages of 6-18. This program is partially grant funded and tuition based.
In addition BVPG provides both a pre-school and after school recreation program for full time local children and families also grant funded and tuition based.
Another fun program is the "Armchair Adventure" series. Local community members are invited to come in and give slide presentations of interesting and fun adventures they have experienced.
The community shares back by bringing dishes of wonderful food to create one of the best "potluck" dinners you are likely to find anywhere. Look for flyers around the community announcing these fun, family events. Everyone is welcome to attend.
